Sioned & Rhys's Anglesey Wedding

I first met Sioned at a wedding fayre in Caer Rhun Hall and we got on like a house on fire! I then met Sioned and Rhys at their home and followed them to a local beauty spot, Penllyn, Brynrefail. There was a beautiful river and some stunning scenery. Sioned and Rhys have a big height difference and amazing body chemistry, they needed no real direction and were literally up for anything.

On the big day I was once again working alongside James from Woodpecker (Blue Pecker) and I also brought my daughter Emily along as a second shooter. Emily accompanies me on my weddings and is a fantastic second shooter. She has a keen eye and captures many candid shots which I am unable to capture. Emily is also comfortable using James’s video cameras too.

So, we arrived at Tre-Ysgawen Hall bright and early and the makeup and hair teams were in full swing. The room was very busy but great fun. Sioned had already decided to do a few ‘cheeky’ shots in her underwear so we made sure we had lots of time to fit everything in.

We ran round the hotel with the wedding dress looking for interesting places to shoot it and ended up hanging it from the galleried landing scaring us to death in the process in case it fell! Luckily, it all went according to plan, and we got some amazing shots!

Rhys arrived in a friend’s car which had been arranged in secret. The venue was very accommodating for the sake of our photos!

The ceremony was outdoors and what a spot! Beautiful flowers surrounded Sioned and Rhys as they made their vows in the sunshine! The grounds are vast at Tre-Ysgawen and so were spoilt for choice and made the most of the stunning mature gardens.

Following the wedding breakfast there were possibly some of the most emotional speeches I had ever witnessed. Sioned had lost her mum and Rhys had only just lost a friend, and despite the fact that I don’t speak any Welsh, I could follow the speeches and I cried throughout. But Sioned then made a speech of her own and lightened the mood of every guest in the room. It was so beautiful and emotional, and it was a privilege to witness.

We photographed the guests and family in the stunning drawing rooms and took the bridal party out into the grounds for some fun shots.

Following the first dance the bridesmaids and Sioned performed a fabulous set routine for Rhys and all the guests. It was amazing! Every bride or groom should do it! It was superbly rehearsed and executed and went down a storm! Absolutely fabulous!
