Plas Maenan in the Conwy valley as long been one of my favourite wedding venues. I have shot may weddings there and each one has been a joy! The venue has been purchased my a company, rather than an individual, and they are turning it into a must see venue in North Wales.
In the autumn of 2021, I photographed Dr & Dr Padgett there and you can see the blog post, it was magical. Sadly in 2022 I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer so needed to take a year out to have surgery, chemotherapy, targeted therapy and hormone therapy. It was a hard slog, but I came out the other side with no hair but more importantly, no cancer.
Plas Maenan asked me to photograph the venue with an emphasis on outdoor ceremonies. To be fair the grounds and location are absolutely stunning so lend themselves to it perfectly. I jumped at the opportunity as a year out of work left me with imposter syndrome, plus I would be working with wonderful suppliers/friends.
The very beautiful Ann, who owns Cameo Brides Llandudno with her sister Rosie, modelled for us with one of the shops stunning dresses. She brought along her husband Ron wearing a lovely, on trend suit from Gear Menswear.
We covered bridal prep in the hotel’s incredible bridal suite with its large window looking out across the valley. The room needs to be seen to be believed! We then shot in the indoor ceremony room, before moving outdoors.
It was absolutely freezing as it was early February but the sun was out and Ann and Ron were stars! We walked up and down the sweeping tree covered driveway and finally into the reception room.
The flowers were provided by my good friend Sarah from Scent With Love in Llandudno. Sarah created huge displays for the pergola and isle. When Sarah is in charge of flowers you can bet they will be spectacular and she never disappoints.
All in all it was a tremendous day and I got to play with my cameras to ease myself back into things, it was like riding a bike! You never forget.
